How the opinion score works

The number on each listing is an opinion score published by Innovance Advisors LLC. We sometimes call the inputs trust signals. Whenever the number appears, it is presented as Our opinion as of [date]. The same date is printed on the card and on each criterion on the listing page. It is not a certification, a ranking we sell, or a promise about how a server will behave.

This page describes the rules in `src/lib/trust.ts`. The table under the article on the methodology page is generated from that same function, and each row shows that opinion date. The paid-placement column is disclosure only. It is not added to the total.

What the score is not

The score is not a security audit. It is not legal, financial, or professional advice. It does not tell you to install a server, and it does not accuse a publisher. A low number means we recorded fewer of the public signals below.

Payment is not an input. Featured (paid) and Sponsored labels do not add or remove points, and they do not change the default sort. Paid placements are not pinned. The default directory order is price, and the sort label says payment doesn't affect that order.

Four criteria, 25 points each

Each criterion is scored from public material we recorded on the opinion date. The maximum total is 100. Missing data scores 0. We do not estimate a number we could not record.

Open source

• 25 — A public source repository for the MCP server is recorded.
• 12 — Some components are public (for example a community wrapper around a closed API) and the hosted service is not fully open source.
• 0 — No public source repository is recorded in this review. No public source repository = 0.

Last update date

Measured from the recorded public update date to the opinion date.

• 25 — 0 to 30 days.
• 15 — 31 to 180 days.
• 8 — 181 to 365 days.
• 0 — Older than 365 days, or no date recorded. No public update date = 0. A date more than a year before the opinion = 0.

Security disclosure

• 25 — A public security contact or disclosure policy we could cite.
• 12 — Security is mentioned, without a disclosure page we could cite.
• 0 — No public security disclosure = 0. We did not find a disclosure page in this review.

Pricing transparency

• 25 — A public page lists a starting price and the unit (month, one-time pack, or 1,000 calls).
• 12 — A starting price is public, and the per-use math is harder to reproduce.
• 0 — No self-serve price is recorded. No self-serve price = 0.

How to read a card

The price line is a snapshot: as of [date], verify with seller. The opinion line is separate: Our opinion as of [date], then the total out of 100. On the listing page, each criterion shows its points, the same opinion date, and a short finding in plain language. A finding of 0 states which input was missing.

Example listings wear an Example listing badge until a maintainer replaces the sample row. The sample publishers in this build are fictional. That badge is not part of the score.

Re-review

Publishers can request a re-review via the corrections and removal form. Use that form if a date, repository, price, or finding is wrong. We would rather correct a public signal than leave a stale opinion up. A request does not change the score by itself.
